When we moved into our new home, I knew I wanted a stunning faux olive tree for our foyer. This empty corner of the room had terrible lighting, making a real tree impractical—let’s be honest, I’m a serial plant killer! I’ve always admired olive trees, and while I love the small one we have in our living room, the foyer’s larger space called for something bigger.
I spent hours researching the best artificial olive trees, determined not to spend $200-$500 on something that didn’t look realistic. After diving into countless reviews and blog posts, I narrowed it down to a few options. It took four different trees before I found one that truly met my expectations. With all options priced over $100, I wanted to avoid anything that looked cheap or unrealistic, especially since it would be a focal point at our front door. Check out my top four favorite faux olive trees from my search and links below!
1: The Viral Amazon Faux Olive Tree
The first tree I tried was the highly-rated, viral olive tree from Amazon. The photos online looked promising, with a realistic trunk and beautiful leaves. However, upon arrival, the tree didn’t live up to the hype. The leaves were beautifully colored and the trunk looked very realistic. Unfortunately, the leaves that were bent during shipping were droopy and floppy, making the tree look more artificial than I hoped. Despite attempting to reconfigure the leaves, they remained droopy and I had to return it. The taller version might have been better because it was larger, but my foyer couldn’t accommodate a 10-foot tree.
2: The Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree
Next, I decided to mix it up and try a fiddle leaf fig tree. I LOVE its large vibrant leaves and stylish appearance of a fiddle leaf tree. Unfortunately, this tree also fell short of what I had envisioned for this space. The large, glossy leaves looked more artificial up close, and although it was striking from a distance, the oversized leaves didn’t felt too big for our foyer. Despite my efforts to move it around and restructure the leaves, I ultimately couldn't make it work how I had hoped. I think it would look incredible in a wide open room with natural light shining on it!
3: The PERFECT Faux Olive Tree
THEN! I opened my final box.... and I had finally found a faux olive tree that exceeded my expectations. The trunk looked natural, and the leaves were adjustable and rigid, allowing me to shape it to my liking. The key feature was its ability to hold its shape without droopy leaves. I also added some beautiful moss at the base to enhance its realistic appearance. Despite occasional kid-induced messes, this tree has become a favorite in our foyer.
4: The Thin Faux Olive Tree
I still cherish the small olive tree in our living room. It fits perfectly in a narrow corner and adds a lovely pop of color. Although the branches are clearly faux, the size makes it less noticeable, and the basket adds a touch of realism..
Choosing the right faux olive tree took time and patience, but it was worth the effort. I’m thrilled with the final choice and how it enhances our foyer.
